those icy shadows reach further out
pale sunlight shies and shrinks away
flowers shiver and curl closed
might the moon gaze downward,
still, slightly aloof?
will stars shiver?
time for frost
to steal
fruit

This challenge issued by Dverse a few years ago was to write a Nonet, with the first line being from one of three options given, all borrowed from other poems.
My line of choice was Those/ pale /flowers /might /still /have/ time/ to /fruit, from Karina Borowicz’s September Tomatoes
Very vivid imageries.

Nice sinister personification of frost “stealing fruit” at the close as “icy shadows” close in 🙂
