Wildflowers at Stevens Creek Nature Preserve

After last week’s record breaking heat, I had assumed that every flower in the south had withered and died,

Against all odds, I found this field of Black-eyed Susans thriving in the shade at Stevens Creek Nature Preserve just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina.
