Strange Happenings in February

February 1st-2nd

Celebrate the Celtic holiday Imbolc, marking the midpoint of winter equinox and spring solstice. The holiday goes from sundown on the first through sundown on the second.

February 6th

New season of The Sinner on USA. The third season of USA’s anthology series brings back Detective Ambrose to investigate a sinister car crash outside of Dorchester.

Briarpatch premiers on USA. A limited series starring Rosario Dawson,”Briarpatch” follows Allegra Dill, a dogged investigator who returns to her border-town home in San Bonifacio, Texas. The show is based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name,

February 7th

Locke and Key streaming on Netflix. Based on the comics by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, the series follows three siblings as they move into a house filled with reality-bending keys after their fathers murder.

Birds of Prey in theaters. After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.

Valentine’s Day

Fantasy Island in theaters. The enigmatic Mr Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort, but when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

February 17th

Blackbirch by K. M. Allen on shelves. Welcome to Blackbirch. It’s a place no one forgets. Except for Josh Taylor.

The fatal car crash took more than 17-year-old Josh’s parents. It stole his memories and returned him to his birthplace, Blackbirch, a tourist town steeped in a history of witchcraft.

February 20th

Cirque Berserk by Jessica Guess on shelves. The summer of 1989 brought terror to the town of Shadows Creek, Florida in the form of a massacre at the local carnival, Cirque Berserk. One fateful night, a group of teens killed a dozen people then disappeared into thin air. No one knows why they did it, where they went, or even how many of them there were, but legend has it they still roam the abandoned carnival, looking for blood to spill.

February 21st

Hunters streaming onAmazon Prime. Inspired by true events, HUNTERS follows a rag-tag team of Nazi Hunters in 1977 New York City who discover that hundreds of escaped Nazis are living in America.

February 23rd

Forensic Files II premieres on HLN. Forensic Files, long considered the gold-standard of crime & justice non-fiction programming, will return with 16 new half-hour episodes.

The updated series will showcase all new mysteries to solve and feature the same style, music, story type and content that fans know and love.

February 28th

The Invisible Man in Theaters. When Cecilia’s abusive ex takes his own life and leaves her his fortune, she suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of coincidences turn lethal, Cecilia works to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

  1. Thanks so much for the shoutout! I love your “happenings” posts as it is, and it was a thrill to see you include my book 😊. Side note, I’m also looking forward to the next season of The Sinner, although I hope it’s more like season 1 than 2.
