Dear God, It Has Teeth (Update)

In May I wrote about the true life inspiration for one of my flash fictions, a medical dummy languishing in a box in one of the offices my company sublets.

Last week I was very happy to discover that the dummy is finally out of the box, and lounging on a desk in a pair of pajamas. Which is a relief, but still doesn’t make it’s full set of teeth any less unsettling.

Strange Happenings This Week:

Friday, July 13th- Barbershop Music Appreciation Day

Saturday, July 14th- The crescent Moon passes 2° above Mercury at twilight.

The Southern Delta Aquariid meteor shower starts to ramp up this week.  The best time to look is between 3 and 4 a.m. local daylight time, just before twilight begins. Viewing conditions are great the remainder of this week because the Moon is out of the morning sky.

June 15th and 18th- Big is playing in theaters to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release.

Catchafire is an organization matches professionals with skill based volunteering opportunities. Their database is easy to browse through, and opportunities can be as long as a 6-8 week project or as short as a one hour phone call.

      • A lot of those mannequins are for practicing resuscitation on, and part of that can involve intubation (putting in a breathing tube). Its very important when learning that skill to not lever the instrument on the teeth, so they are in there to encourage development of good technique. In other cases, its about appearing more “real”, although that term is obviously used loosely.
